Woogie's at a crossroad; Please Pray

My nickname for our daughter Jordan is "Woogie". Don't ask me how I came up with it. It went from "My Little Muffin Girl" (not that she even likes muffins all that much-Josh was more the muffin lover)...to Woogie.

Yesterday my husband preached at a church about 35 miles from our home. We went through a beautiful city, and right at the turn before getting to the church, right at the crossroads, there was a restaurant called...you bet ya...Woogie's! We all laughed together. Imagine that, a restaurant with her lovie name! lol!!

Woogie

David preached the Sun am and we sang together by request of the Pastor. We sang "Praise You in This Storm" before David preached the AM service. When we went back that evening for him to preach the PM service, Jordan sang with David and I before his evening sermon, "Pour My Love on You". Josh was a little shy about singing with us. ;) It was a beautiful time in the Lord...

Also, on the way to church for the evening service, I was sure to bring my camera to get that photo of "Woogies". (I've decided to keep the cam with me as much as possible these days. I'm also considering that 365 day challenge to take 1 photo a day, every day. I'll probably want to begin in Jan. Until then, I'll have fun getting a lot of practice in. ;)

Here is a photo of the moon I got on our way home from church last night. It was so so lovely that I had to capture it. We had stopped at Wally World, and I looked up, and thought...How BEAUTIFUL!

Today we had a follow up appointment for our daughter Jordan aka the Woogie. (I'm taking things in stages...you know...not worrying until the "next step".) At the appointment for Jordan's well check last week, the Dr. found that she seemed to have visible bulges during her spine check.

We went for X-rays this morning, and I got a call right before lunch from the Dr. to call her back right away. So I did, but the Dr. was at lunch. I spoke with the nurse who advised me that Jordan has significant scoliosis, and they are referring her to a specialist.

This afternoon, I began to first thank God for Jordan's healing, second...that we found out while she is 12, and third...that God is moving our family to a place where there is great medical Dr's and a school of medicine.

We do not yet know the percentage of the curvature of her scoliosis. I guess we will know more when we see the specialist. :)

You know, I was tempted to feel like such a bad mother. After finding this out, I can clearly see now...SO clearly that she is leaning, and one shoulder is lower than the other, one hip higher...I've never looked that close to her body since she is older and you know...for quite some time she baths/ showers herself, and is very modest and all. I've always taken her to her well checks, it was never brought up.

I'm learning that the curves can become more severe during growth of ages of 10-15. I'm thankful...like I said, she is 12. It is a blessing that they did find it soon. I reminded myself that these things can move quickly, and I am a very good mother in fact. :)

We would sure appreciate prayers for our sweet woogie. God has this all under control, and I trust Him for her healing, and for whatever that "next step" is for her in this. He is the great physician and I've experienced His healing power first hand. He is able! I pray God's healing on Jordan's spine, in Jesus name. In all things, God be glorified.

Psalm 121:1-3 (New International Version)
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

I just sat and cried through this post! WOW! Praising God for the faithfulness He showed you this weekend. Seeing that sign was no coincidence or accident. He has her in the palm of His hand! Praying with you and your family that Woogie will be just fine and that the walk ahead of her will draw her 1st closer to Him and 2nd bring glory to His name!

Lots of love and blessings!
Jill

I also had/have scoliosis. I was diagnosed around 14 but it never really affected my life. I was just treated by a chiropractor. I pray her curve isn't bad and that she will be fine!

That is very encouraging Jaime, thank you so much for sharing.

Jill, you are precious too...and discerning. I too believe that this was something special for Jordan yesterday. Not that we rely completely on signs and wonders, yet God does special things like this to remind us... for now, to remind us that yes, she is in the palm of God's healing hand.

Thank you both for your thoughts and prayers.

Wow, tell Woogie we are praying for her. I have been down that road myself and with a friend.

When I was in the 6th grade the school nurse sent me to Winston-Salem for testing and after much ado, they decided in my case it was best to leave it alone. Wow, back then they had the hard plastic bulky body braces. Later in life a chiropractor told me one leg is shorter than the other, therefore, one hip is higher than the other. I do notice for weight bearing I favor one leg, also in sports and water skiing I do the same and have to think about it to use my other leg more. The WiiFit has been great for me and has really helped me know my center of balance and work on strengthing the top of my body.

Ashley my assistant this year has--I believe a 60% curve. They tried a brace on her 1st (you couldn't even tell she was wearing it). In her case the brace did not work and they recommended surgery. About a year ago they put a rod in her back. She did extremely well, yet this past summer a screw came loose and they had to put her on antibotics, she felt it was better then a few weeks ago she started complaining of pain again and had a knot in that area of her back. She has been a little scared and doing a lot of online chatting with others who have had the surgery but not having anyone to talk with that is going through pain a year later after the surgery. Anyway, she would be a great resource and I am sure she would be willing to talk with you if it ever comes to that.

Isaiah 26:3 - Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee.

Thank you Cindy lu. Yes, I may would like to talk with Ashley, if needed. I'm just taking it a step at a time.

We found out who she is referred to. David spoke with several on the Ped unit at the hospital...many who have worked on that floor for yrs said that when this particular specialist is referred, it means surgery.

I wish he had never told me this!!!

Purposely and thoughtfully I'm laying this at the feet of Jesus. We never want to see our little ones go through surgery...

God is bigger.

love and miss you bunches!! Whooohoooo you're on blogger now! ;)

Thats awesome that she is getting great help.. and that they found this at a young age.

Keep us posted. Ive never noticed her shoulders either. One of those things you really dont notice if its not extreme.. you know?
I have a shoulder thats lower than the other but its not from scoliosis.. not sure why its like that.. just is. :-\ But its never a bother. Might just be bad posture? :-)

was that moon from last night? Ive never taken a moon pic .. pretty

Drea...yours is prly from carrying those strong bouncing baby boys, when you are so tiny and petite! ;) hehe, you are such a good mommy =)

Yeah, i never noticed it either(bad mom award for me)...but i really notice it now that ik what to look for...she even has the fatigue.

What scoliosis is NOT is something from lack of exercise, poor posture or diet. =)

Praying perhaps the brace will work for her. But idk, we'll have to wait and see. OH I just got a call from the office and spoke directly to her pediatrician...she said Jorda has 2 curves. One is 42% and one is 27%. Still don't know what that means until we see the specialist.

Until then I trust God and remain hopeful. :) Appreciate your thoughts and prayers friend.

Thankful for everyone's prayers! "The effective fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much"...
